Makayla + Tim Roper

Updated: Apr 21

The Depot of Main in Dothan, AL is the best venue for a quaint, rustic wedding in the late summer and fall. Fully equipped with indoor and outdoor spaces, bridal getting ready area, and conveniently located next to a railroad track created the perfect backdrop for outdoors couples portraits.

Brilliant sunflowers, late summer showers, rustic ceremony space, and a love like no other, the Roper wedding truly embodied the fairytale love that Makayla and Tim share. Intertwined in their relationship and in their wedding day were key themes of faith, military, and love. The groom and groomsmen had custom shirts that paid homage to the military in such a special and unique way. How many photographers get the chance to work with a power couple who spends their days with helicopters? We love getting to see how much their shared interests brought them together and is a focal point of connectedness in their love.

Our favorite moment from the day would definitely have to be the private first prayer that Makayla and Tim shared. Tim being blindfolded during this special moment allowed for them to see each other for the first time down the aisle but still create a private moment between future husband and wife that is starting their marriage by praising the lord and asking him to lay his hands over their marriage. We love to see the personalized ways in which our couples incorporate various elements to their wedding that fit best for them and who they are, this first prayer might be one of my new favorite takes on the first look. From the barbecue buffet to the sunflowers in the bouquet to the mint strawberry water, the attention to detail and planning in every aspect of this wedding truly created a romantic celebration of Makayla and Tim’s marriage.

The Roper wedding at the Depot Off Main was the perfect end to our summer wedding season. Join us is reliving our favorite moments and other highlights from Makayla and Tim’s special day:
